Safety Engineer
Job Description
An established commercial construction and real estate development firm has an immediate career opportunity for a Safety Engineer to support mission critical construction projects. This role may be based at multiple active project locations across the U.S. and will work closely with field leadership to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with project safety leadership, field managers, and site teams to implement, monitor, and enforce safety programs.
- Contribute to the development, management, and continuous improvement of construction safety and health programs.
- Monitor construction activities and advise management on compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Review and track project-specific safety programs from subcontractors.
- Assist with investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-miss events.
- Analyze investigation data and support corrective and preventive action planning.
- Prepare and submit accident and incident reports in accordance with regulatory and client requirements.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections of work activities, equipment, and materials to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Develop, collect, and distribute safety training materials and program documentation.
- Compile and distribute safety performance metrics, including incident data, OSHA-related reports, and cost tracking.
- Support data analytics efforts tied to safety performance, operational improvement, and zero‑incident initiatives.
- Participate in preconstruction safety planning meetings and project safety committee meetings.
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre‑Task Plans (PTPs), and required permits submitted by subcontractors.
- Lead project safety orientations, toolbox talks, and job safety meetings.
- Assist with oversight of on‑site safety support personnel.
- Evaluate construction safety and health programs and advise project leadership on adequacy and compliance.
- Provide training and technical guidance to project supervision on safety-related topics for mission critical projects.
- Support implementation of drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Coordinate medical treatment services for injured employees.
- Interface with OSHA and support site compliance inspections.
- Coordinate OSHA consultation visits, partnerships, and related programs.
- Participate in OSHA citation and fine resolution processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse project teams.
- Experience working on mission critical construction projects preferred.
- Working knowledge of:
- OSHA regulations related to the construction industry
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements
- NFPA 70E standards
- Experience supporting incident investigations involving near misses, injuries, property damage, or public impact.
- Minimum of 3+ years of construction safety experience or equivalent construction management experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with construction technology platforms and multiple software systems.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to guide teams toward completion of safety initiatives.
- Proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to develop and implement innovative safety solutions.
Certifications & Education
- OSHA 30‑Hour Construction certification (required).
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from a nationally recognized organization.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Risk Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Professional safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, ASP, CHST) are a plus.
- Ability to travel temporarily to active project locations as needed.
